Grammy Awards 2019 – Best Dressed

If you missed the Grammys, I recommend watching the first 30 minutes to see the best parts. Alicia Keys was wonderful as the host; her passion for music shone as she spoke about the performers, and during her monologues. She brought great energy to the show. Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, J.Lo and MICHELLE OBAMA were, hands down, the highlight of the whole show. Camila Cabello’s opening performance was amazing and I especially loved Ricky Martin’s appearance.

My expectations are always high for the Grammys red carpet, to see who can deliver the most outlandish/chic outfit. Cardi B – too outlandish! Camila Cabello – too safe!

Here are my favourite looks from last night.

Jennifer Lopez in Ralph and Russo

J.Lo lives for the Grammys red carpet. She has had so many iconic looks; Versace dress circa 2000 anyone? I LOVE hats and it just adds this extra edge to her dress that is necessary at the Grammys. And of course, the beautiful beading and jewel details to the dress are always something to admire.

Lady Gaga in Versace

Unexpected choice for Mother Monster. I would’ve liked to have seen something a bit more over the top from her, which really we haven’t seen much of from her this award season. Maybe she’s saving it for the Oscars? However, bottom line is she looks incredible and can probably move around a lot easier than a meat dress.

Janelle Monae in Jean Paul Gaultier

This. is. what. I’m. talkin’. about. Janelle Monae made for a memorable appearance in this  piece of art. I truly love dresses that have some strong structure to them, whether its shoulders, a neckline, a peplum, it makes a statement. Again, obsessed with the head piece, it completes the whole outfit.

Ashlee Simpson in Georges Chakra

I can’t say I care much for Ashlee Simpson (except when I was twelve. I can still sing all the lyrics from her Autobiography album). This outfit is so fun, so 70’s. It seemed very appropriate for the Grammys. Her jewelry, hair and make up really tied the whole thing together.

Dua Lipa in Atelier Versace

This definitely falls into the safe category, but I can’t help swooning over a dress that is a perfect fit. It fits her like a glove and shows off the flattering criss crossed bodice work that turns into a wonderfully long train. Spectacular!

Honourable Mentions

Told you I have a thing for hats! And sparkles, and pants. I loved all of Alicia’s outfit changes, but this one was my favourite. She’s giving me some serious outfit inspo.

I am really into new Miley. She seems to have found herself, come into her own and is radiating with confidence. I was going to put her red carpet look on my best dress list, but when I really thought about it, it was her performance outfit that I loved the most. It was just the right amount of risqué and very rock and roll. That’s the vibes I get from her these days and I’m here for it.

Two weeks until the Oscars! I’ll be back then.
