Award season is back! And this time, with a purpose. The entertainment industry came together on Sunday night not only to celebrate achievements in film and t.v, but to make a statement on sexual harassment, and inequality. It is encouraging and inspiring to see this movement make traction and the conversation is working towards a world where sexual harassment and inequality are non existent.
Aside from the statement, I do love a great black ensemble. So I still have some favourites from last nights red carpet.
Dakota Johnson in Gucci
I am going to start with my favourite dress of the night! Dakota Johnson stuns in this beautiful Gucci gown. The back of the dress really steals the show with a crystal embellished bow that looks as if its exploded in crystals and dripping down the back. Absolutely gorgeous.
Kate Hudson in Valentino
OBSESSED. This is a way to stand out in a sea of black dresses. How much garment tape do you think was used to keep that dress in place? The Harry Winston necklace was the perfect accessory for this dress’s plunging neckline. Not everyone can pull off a dress like this, but Kate Hudson walks around with a look of unshakeable confidence, which truly is the best accessory of them all.
Jessica Biel in Dior
I am always a sucker for an old Hollywood glam look. Jessica Biel looks every bit classy in this Dior tulle gown with trendy velvet detailing. The dress steals the show while keeping the jewels and make up simple. Well, as simple as Bulgari jewelry can be.
Mandy Moore in Rosie Assoulin
The dress has pockets. The dress has pockets everyone! Function and fashion is always a win in my books. A few stars decided to jazz up their black ensembles with a pop of colour, Mandy Moore has done it with a big beautiful red belt. The halter turns into a cape and train which gives a long streamlined look. I love her dress and I love Rebecca Pearson.
Zoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent
Ok so I think I also have a thing for these pixie haircuts that both Kate Hudson and Zoe Kravitz are rocking. Especially because it shows off their gorgeous jewelry so well. The Lorraine Schwartz earrings are everything – I love emeralds. While this look is very understated and simple, it again, is very classy.
Understandably so, Marchesa was nowhere to be seen on the red carpet this year. Marchesa has always been a favourite red carpet designer of mine, and many celebrities. I think it’s safe to say we won’t see the designs of Georgina Chapman anytime soon.
I love that the 2018 red carpet season was kicked off with meaning and purpose. I am looking forward to the next couple months and future award shows and see what the stars come out to stun in.
