I hope everyone enjoyed their Oscar Sunday! As per award show tradition, I gathered with my girlfriends and scarfed down an embarrassing amount of pizza. The looks this year didn’t exactly have me on the edge of my seat, but there weren’t many misses in my eyes aside from the obvious *cough* Lady Gaga *cough*. Here are my favourite looks of last night.
Emma Stone in Ellie Saab
Emma looked amazing in this dress that otherwise would have failed misserably on anyone else. Her red hair and make up compliments the difficult colour of the dress. Good job glam squad!
Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen
La la la, she looks like a princess! What an unbelievably gorgeous dress with beautiful detailing in the bodice and perfect pleating. A show-stopper in my eyes.
Jennifer Lopez in Ellie Saab
I have always resisted putting J.Lo on my best dressed lists in favour of more ‘classic’ rather than ‘sexy’ looks. This was a happy medium for me. Ellie Saab is one of my favourite designers for award shows and this dress looks as it was made for her. A beautiful dress with just the right amount of cleavage.
Julianne Moore in Chanel
She knew she would be a winner and dressed accordingly. The devil is in the details and I love that she kept her jewelry, hair and make up, clean and simple.
Lupita Nyong’O in Calvin Klein
I don’t think there will come a day where Lupita doesn’t kill it on the red carpet. This was farther than what I had expected her to wear but she is not predictible with her choices aside from looking amazing. This dress was constructed with 6,000 pearls. I don’t know how they managed to get it to fit her like a glove, but they did.
Naomi Watts in Armani Privè
Naomi is first to wear gowns with strange cuts and lines but always pulls it off. The bandeau looking addition to the dress just works for her. She teeters on daring with her dresses but still looks elegant every time.
Rosamund Pike in Givenchy
Zoe Saldana in Versace
These two stunning beauties have recently given birth. Zoe Saldana had TWINS only a mere 9 weeks ago. Wowza. Enough said.
That wraps up another award season – till next year!
